Walker Properties has no official startup date, but was begun in the late 1980's with commercial investments by Randy Walker. In 1994, Randy Walker started a company called RT Warehouse Company and began purchasing and managing property under that title. In 1996, Chad Walker and Greg Walker joined the team and renamed the company Walker Properties. Since then, Walker Properties has grown into a full commercial real estate developer with a portfolio of 400,000 square feet of commercial real estate owned solely by Walker Properties.
Walker Properties has found a unique place in the Lexington market by focusing over half of its resources to the redevelopment of existing commercial buildings centrally located in the downtown district. Walker Properties acquires old, dilapidated and sometimes vacant buildings and transforms them into new and contemporarily designed office studios. Walker Properties then offers the buildings for lease to the open market at a much cheaper rate then most leasing companies. The other primary focus of Walker Properties is Build to Suit stand alone buildings or new construction. Walker Properties always has at least one empty lot in their portfolio at all times to provide new tenants an opportunity to have a building built to their specific needs. In both focuses of the company, Walker Properties offers a wide range of construction capabilities as they handle all General Construction in house. By doing so, Walker Properties can manage directly with the perspective tenant their build out needs all while saving money for the tenant by managing their construction independently. Walker Properties is a very unique, yet small family owned development, leasing and property management company.
